Mission and Therapy Philosophy

My mission is to provide a safe therapeutic space. I understand this is what so many search for and have needed for far too long. Therapy with me is individualized whether it be in individual therapy services or in group therapy services. I do not know what therapy with you is like until we are sitting together in a co-created therapeutic relationship.

My role as your psychotherapist is to help facilitate and support you, the client, in discovering, processing, and most importantly, deciding if changing some strategies you may have needed to implement in negotiating your life is a next step in your treatment.

Through the development of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, together we will help you identify issues, if not already clear to you, and take action in the therapeutic relationship itself to develop the relational, emotional, and or behavioral skills you determine need to be the focus of your treatment.

I am sensitive to the fact that problems leading individuals to psychotherapy may make therapy challenging. Knowing this may help prepare you in case therapy is naturally difficult for a time. Additionally, I am aware that finding connection doesn't always come easy, and some reasons may include experiences, historically, leading to difficulty feeling trust and safety in relationships.

Systemic oppressions like racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, classism, etc. also lead individuals to psychotherapy. As a Queer therapy practice, I make a point to identify and provide the needed support in dealing with oppression, whether a member of a marginalized group or an accomplice, when relevant to a client's treatment needs, sense of self, and or the relationships that are a focus of treatment.

My practice mission is to help facilitate community justice through the use of a sliding scale that helps those who may need to pay less for services to slide down my pay scale, and those who can pay more for services to support this mission slide up my pay scale (Voluntarily). Sliding scale spots are limited at times.
